You can submit your state park event via email to get it placed on the calendar. The Discover Pass is required for vehicle access to Washington state parks and state-managed recreation lands. Battle Ground Lake State Park

  4. Alex MacLeod and Friends- Family dance on the beach

    Live music and experienced caller Alex MacLeod who aims to get everyone on their feet and dancing. Family oriented and open to all ages and all levels. Alex will teach circle dances, square dances and contra dances.

    In case of inclement weather, the dance will take place in the Center for Wooden Boats boathouse.

Beyond a discussion of the bridges’ architecture and history, visitors will discover the cultural significance of these iconic spans and their connection to the park’s natural resources.   2. Guided hikes

    July 13, 2019, 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM @ Deception Pass State Park

    Park staff will lead a family-friendly, hour-long, .9-mile hike along the North Beach Trail, during which hikers will learn about the Deception Pass forests. This one-way hike leaves from the West Beach Amphitheater and ends at the North Beach parking lot. Visitors may leave a car to shuttle or hike round trip. People of all ages are welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

  3. Discovery Center hands-on activities

    Become a scientist as we investigate the homes of wildlife within the state park. Discover the ways wildlife get their food without a grocery store, uncover the clues they leave behind, and see firsthand how Fort Ebey helps wildlife survive. For an exploration, participants are encouraged to pack items such as binoculars, camera, flashlights, magnifying glasses and field guides. Some supplies will be available to share. Recommended for ages 4+. All are welcome!

    This six-day class is intended for intermediate and advanced-level woodworkers. While you need not be familiar with all the techniques the class will cover, you should have a basic familiarity with mortise and tenon joinery and be able to cut a tenon by hand using a backsaw. The course will cover the following, in addition to other skills and techniques: Using a rod to determine dimensions of parts and angles for joinery; Notched stretcher-to-leg joinery incorporating a hidden mortise and tenon; Chamfering with a spokeshave and drawknife; Mortise and tenon joinery, including exposed tenons; Drawboring; Scribing tenon shoulders; Inlaid butterfly keys; Routing a thumbnail bead; Shaping legs to make lambs’ tongues; Optional: decorative gouging; Attaching a solid wood table top with traditional wooden buttons.

    Westport Windriders kite club invites you to join them for their annual kite competition and kite flying. There also will be kite building workshops (kits provided) and a teddy bear drop for children 10 years and younger. Pack a picnic and join in on three days of fun on the beach with colorful kites dancing in the breeze.
