Vegetation has been cleared along the north Park boundary near campsites 20-24 and 73-75. Please be aware that these campsites will have reduced privacy.

Seasonal Technical Rock-Climbing Closure

Technical climbing on Beacon Rock's south face is temporarily closed for the protection of Peregrine Falcon nesting. It is anticipated to re-open July 15. The east face is permanently closed for the protection of natural resources. The northwest and west faces are currently open, and the Beacon Rock hiking trail is open year-round. 

Belfair State Park will be undergoing a campsite re-numbering project beginning September 16, 2024. Reservations will be closed for any camping from September 16th forward until the project is completed. The park will remain open during this project for drop in camping only, excluding the tree loop which closes for the season September 15th each year. Reservations will re-open October 1, 2024.

As of Feb. 26, 2024, the cabins and restrooms in the lower area at Cama Beach State Park will be closed until further notice. Day-use in that area will remain open, but restrooms will only be available in other parts of the park. Significant parts of the septic system recently failed in the area, and the repairs will require extensive disturbance of the area, which has known environmental and cultural complexities.

Reservations will be refunded in full, and we’re very sorry for the disruption this may cause. We hope you’ll consider visiting one of the other parks in the area. As we continue to evaluate the site, it is possible additional mitigations or closures of parts of the park will take place. Please keep checking these alerts for the latest information.

We recently removed invasive blackberry and added native plantings in campsites 61-63. Please be aware that these campsites will have minimal vegetation and reduced privacy while we're waiting for the native plants to mature.

The Canyon Trail at Camano Island State Park has been closed indefinitely due a slide on a section of the trail. 

Camping — including loops A, B, C and D, Waikiki Beach and the North Jetty will close on Sept. 16, 2024 through March 2025 while we complete renovations and repairs to improve the park. The boat launch will also experience intermittent closures. Parts of the park will remain open for day use. Click here for more information and the latest updates.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will conduct prescribed burns at Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge beginning in late March through May. Visitors can expect to see smoke and some roads and public use areas may need to close temporarily as burn operations are taking place. Partial Trail Closure due to flooding washout between lower Monumental Dam and Kahlotus, WA until further notice.

Parking is restricted to designated parking pads or overflow for all motorized vehicles. This includes motorized off-road vehicles (ORV) including ATV'S & UTV'S.

Non-street legal motorized off-road vehicles including motorcycles & ATVs are not permitted to operate within Conconully State Park.

The boat launch at Bowman Bay is closed due to significant structural damage incurred during winter storms. 

Due to significant storm damage, the West Beach parking area will be closed until further notice. Find more information and updates here. 

Alternative parking is available in the Cranberry Lake parking lot, which as walking access to West Beach, approximately one mile away. The North Beach day-use area and parking lot are also open. Cranberry Lake Road is closed at the east side of Cranberry Lake, just past the Lake Store entrance. There is no access to the Cranberry Lake boat launch. 

The trail between Lottie Point Loop and Lighthouse Point Loop at Bowman Bay is closed until further notice due to storm damage. Part of the trail has been washed away and the walking bridge has been damaged by rising tides and large driftwood. Please avoid this area for your safety.

The Cole Creek Bridge on the 41 Rd out of the  Reload Sno-Park has collapsed.  There is an official closure order on this bridge from the USFS for ALL motorized use.  Now that the bridge has completely collapsed it is even more unsafe.  

Due to low snow conditions grooming is being reduced to once per week from Whittier Tunnel east to the reload. Grooming will be on Thursdays.

“Fort Flagler State Park has dock moorage only.  There are no moorage buoys available this year.  Mystery Bay also has limited moorage access, and only 2 buoys available this year.”

Alcohol is not permitted at Fort Simcoe State Park. This policy is strictly enforced throughout the park, including reserved picnic shelters.

The Fort Worden Boat Launch is closed indefinitely while Parks pursues a safer alternative for the area. Please use the Parks-managed launches at Fort Flagler and Mystery Bay state parks or boat launches operated by the Port of Port Townsend.

Vehicle use on Recreation Trail, through the locked gate off Recreation Drive, is being restricted at this time; foot and bicycle access is allowed. This restricted access is to protect the natural and cultural resources we all care about as well as address on-going degradation of the trail. 

The solar-powered charging station located at the Ginkgo Petrified Forest trailside museum is out of service. There is no estimated repair date at this time.

There is a higher-than-normal presence of ticks has been spotted on the island. Visitors are urged to take precautions when camping or hiking on the island. 

The Hyak sledding hill is closing March 19th, 2024 for the season. Grooming of all trails will be cancelled on Wednesday 3/27 – Thursday 3/28. Final grooming of the season will be Saturday 3/30. See grooming calendar link below.

The Ike Kinswa boat launch on Mayfield Lake ends abruptly due to a material wash out at the base of the concrete ramp. Use caution as this has resulted in a 10-inch drop at the end of the ramp.

Joemma Beach campground closed for camping until May 15, 2024.

Kopachuck State Park will be closed to all shell fishing for 2024. Please visit WDFW for a list of local regulations. 

Grooming has been suspended due to lack of snow and poor conditions.

Utility Campground (water, electricity, sewer) is now open for first come first serve. Reservations begin May 15th, 2024. Standard Campground is scheduled to open May 15th. 

By order of the Bureau of Reclamation, this park is closed to metal detecting indefinitely.

Major improvements to Lake Sammamish State Park’s Sunset Beach are ongoing. New picnic shelters and access trails will be added to revitalize popular community gathering place. 

The Homestead Trail will be closed until further notice due to trail washout. Contact Park staff for further information.

Lake Sylvia State Park will be completely closed June 10 through Sept. 30, 2024 for construction. Nearby, Schafer State Park will remain open for day-use and overnight accommodations. Learn more here.

The main Bathhouse on the beach is closed for renovations with an anticipated reopening by May 1.

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) is conducting an ongoing study of moose populations on Mt. Spokane and throughout northeastern Washington. Biologists will be outfitting moose with GPS radio collars to gain information about how the animals use the landscape and to assess the overall health and wellness of the local population. Park visitors can expect to see low flying helicopters and collared animals within the park.

The pier at Mystery Bay State Park will remain closed until further notice. During a routine inspection, it was discovered that the pier may not be safe for public access. The buoys, boat launch, and moorage docks remain open.  The marine pumpout station remains open seasonally April through October.

All trails into the canyon and base of Palouse Falls are permanently closed. Venturing beyond designated viewing area and trails at the park is prohibited.

Parking at Palouse Falls State Park is limited during high-use periods, such as weekends and holidays. Turnaround for vehicles with trailers and RVs is very difficult during these times. We recommend visitors avoid bringing vehicles to the park during high-use periods.

There is construction on Phenning Rd crossing in Ellensburg. This work starts on March 11 and expects to end May 3, 2024. The work includes adding a pedestrian crosswalk. Be aware of trail and road detours and possible road closures during this time. 

Annual weed treatment of the trail grade is occurring from Easton to Renslow in select sections. 

Snoqualmie Tunnel will be closing for the winter November 1. Projected reopening date is May 1. Weather dependent. 

Trail detours are in effect near Lower Crab Creek Rd due to several train trestle bridges damaged by fire in September of 2020.

As of May 13, 2024, the entire day-use area, including the disc golf course and Lewis River access, are closed for the summer due to an I-5 highway project managed by WSDOT. The campground remains open and reservations can be made thru the Reservation Center at (888) 226-7688.

The use of motorized off road vehicles (ORVs) including ATVs and UTVs is not permitted at Pearrygin Lake State Park. For information on Okanogan County Roads open for ORV use visit the link below.

Entrance consolidation project has been completed. The east and west park entrances will be closed indefinitely to through traffic. Visitors may access the park through the new entrance at 625 Bear Creek Road.

The Penrose pumpout is no longer in service.

The Penrose Point Trail section from point A to point B will be closed until further notice due to dangerous hill erosion on a portion of the trail. A trail reroute has been planned to circumnavigate this area of the trail. The other trails remain open and there is still access to Penrose Point.

The day-use restroom is closed for repairs. Portable toilets are available for use. 

The Spokane House Interpretive Center will be closed starting July 15, 2024 for roof repair work lasting approximately three months. 

There is an upcoming forest health treatment project planned for approximately 300 acres in the Pine Bluff and 7 Mile areas of Riverside State Park. The treatment plan will involve forest thinning to limit competition between existing old growth trees removing sapling and pole sized trees that may act as ladder fuels in the event of a fire. This will help return the forest to conditions within the historic range or variability, reduce wildfire risk, minimize damage to existing trails, and will protect and promote old growth trees and sensitive species and habitats within the park. There will be intermittent trail closures within the project area during this time. Please do not disturb any signs or flagging.

We are currently not accepting camping reservations or drop in camping while the park undergoes planning and development efforts.  The campground is closed for the 2024 season.  Updates will be posted on this page. 

The trailer dump is closed for the winter season.  

The park will be closed from Sept. 15 to mid-Oct due to scheduled construction projects. All camping and day-use activities, including hiking, will be closed and unavailable during that time. 

The moorage dock is permanently closed due to safety concerns related to age and structural deterioration. Park staff are currently researching options. 

The boat launch dock is open for use. There is a 15 minute time limit and the dock may not be used for moorage. The park offers six moorage buoys on a first come, first served basis. Moorage permits are available for purchase online.

Beginning on April 15, the Centennial Trail will be closed for asphalt resurfacing from the State Line to the Donkey Islands Trailhead in Millwood (Miles 0-14). Currently expect delays on State Route 17 Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Construction is through October 2024. 

Steptoe Butte will be closed for a road improvement project beginning spring 2025. Repaving this road will improve the visitor experience, access and safety. The vault toilet located on the butte summit will also be removed during this work. There is a restroom located in the lower picnic area on your way to the summit. Parks will provide opportunities for public comment that will inform future management options after this project is complete.

Drinking water will not be available on Stuart Island State Park for the winter. Please expect water to be off until May.

Drinking water is now available at Fossil Bay.

Drinking water will be off at Echo Bay and Shallow Bay until further notice.

Currently expect delays on State Route 17 Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Construction is through October 2024. 

Starting January 7, 2024 work will begin on upgrading the crosswalks at Twanoh State Park. Construction should take approximately 4 weeks. During this time pedestrian traffic will be re-routed and some current crosswalks may be closed. Please look for closure signs and re-routed pedestrian detours.

Due to flooding, the east side of the park is closed until further notice.

Roadside shoulder parking on Ley Road will be limited due to housing construction that has affected off-site parking.  Shoulder areas along Ley Road that are typically available for parking when the main parking lot is full will be limited for available space. If you are planning to hike at Wallace Falls on the weekend it is advised to arrive early when parking spaces are available. If the parking lot is full, please consider other area hikes at this time.

Construction will begin on Willapa Hills Trail crossing Kelso St. in Pe Ell:

-Wednesday, April 17^th there will intermittent closures due to heavy construction equipment. We advise that there should be no horse traffic on the trail that day.

-Monday, April 22nd-Wednesday, April 24^th trail work and heavy equipment will be running in the immediate area.

Trestles 32 and 32.5 are completed and open. However, trail surface improvements in this area are scheduled to occur late 2024.

The trail is closed at MP 38.5 west of Lebam due to a washout. Planning, permitting, and design of a bridge to span the washout is currently in progress.

The trail is closed between MP 48-49 at Trestle 48, east of Heckard Rd. The trestle and adjacent trail are unsafe for use due to erosion.
