  1. Foundations of Woodworking

    This course drills deep into the basics, beginning with a firm foundation in understanding wood as a material and incorporates introductory training in a wide range of techniques. The curriculum focuses on imparting skills through a series of projects designed to build on one another in techniques and complexity. After twelve weeks, you'll leave with an in-depth experience of hand tools; having practiced applications of joinery methods, considered choices for wood selection and worked with non-toxic materials. And you’ll understand practical planning for designing and executing woodworking projects.

  2. Introduction to Furniture: Design and Technique

    This class is open to woodworkers who would like to broaden their approach to furniture making. We think it means you are a person who has decided to commit to learning furniture making; is yearning to develop a finer sense of design; has already acquired some woodworking skills and has a strong sense of the limitations of your own knowledge and skills. You must have some experience in hand tool woodworking, finer machine work and basic design before taking this class. If you have limited woodworking experience - we’d like you to produce evidence of strong practical skills, problem solving ability, and experience with hand work.

  4. Photography and the Wabi-Sabi Aesthetic with Ginny Banks

  5. Watercolor with Suzanne Lamon

    This class is for anyone wanting to learn the technique of painting with watercolors, or for those who have experience, but would like to hone their skills. Class direction will primarily focus on brush skills, and will lead into paper and paint fundamentals. Students will work with both dry and wet applications and will learn how to add color(s) without losing a picture by turning it to mud. Nothing tricky to it and you will be amazed by what you can do.

  6. Drawing Fundamentals: Level One with Nonie Gaines

    This weekend workshop in being offered for those of you who want to learn the fundamentals of realistic drawing but have been unable to take an ongoing course. You will learn an eight step process for drawing three-dimensional subjects with an emphasis on form, depth, value and texture, using a variety of techniques and materials. You will also cover basic composition, linear perspective, and observational drawing. The techniques you learn will provide you with a visual language to express your personal artistic vision.

  7. Textural Mixed Media Painting with Nina Bindi

    February 2, 2020, 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM

    Working with a combination of Putty, concrete powder and liquid adhesive, you’ll make the medium together and then intentionally or just randomly create ridges, valleys, and shapes, either realistic or abstract on both a birchwood plywood board and a foam core panel. It will also be possible to embed materials, like leaves, seed pods, etc. Then you will paint on top with acrylic paints. Fun, and new techniques, endless possibilities.

Lake Easton State Park

  1. Guided snowshoe hike

    February 2, 2020, 1:00 PM - 3:30 PM @ Lake Easton State Park

    Hikes will be about 3 miles on moderate terrain and last approximately 2.5 hours. All ages and ability levels are welcome. Guides will share tidbits on natural history, snowshoeing basics and safety information during the hikes. Bring snowshoes, poles, layered clothing, boots and water.

    For more information about the snowshoe hikes, call (509) 925-1943. Participants should call after 9 a.m. on the day of the hike for status updates. Cancellations may occur due to road closures or other winter access issues.
