Fort Worden State Park

  1. Timber Framing: Building a Structure

    You’ll be part of a team joining a frame for a moderately sized structure, yet is complex enough for you to fully understand the historic design and building processes. We're looking for a partner in the Port Townsend area who would want to sponsor a timber frame that we can build as a team. If you are interested in sponsoring a timber frame to be built in this course, please let us know. The design may be fixed by the time the class starts, but we will walk you through the design and materials selection process.

  2. Port Townsend Acoustic Blues Workshop

    The Port Townsend Acoustic Blues workshop is held at Fort Worden State Park, one of the Pacific Northwest’s most stunning and inspiring landscapes. Participants can stay in dorms and eat in the Commons (a gathering place at the center of campus where local, sustainable foods are prepared by artisan chefs). The teaching artist-faculty also stay in housing on the Fort Worden campus, lending that family gathering feeling that makes this week more than just a workshop.

  3. Beginning Digital Design and Fabrication

    This class is for those new to computer numerical Control (CNC) or at a beginner or early intermediate level. Through a series of structured lessons and projects, students will explore several core CNC design and machining techniques, including computer-made designs (CAD), cutting file creation (CAM), tool operation, and material holding techniques. As part of the process, students will create their own designs for some of the projects and use the CNC router to cut them. Students will leave with a workbook of project tutorials and digital fabrication concepts as well as inspiration to explore new projects.

Kopachuck State Park

    This program has been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause our visitors. Junior rangers and potential junior rangers are encouraged to take this animal habitat training! Youth will learn about wildlife watching etiquette, wildlife found at Kopachuck State Park and how to search for and identify animal habitats. Participants will earn their Junior Ranger badge. While participants all ages are encourage to attend, the program is geared towards youth ages 6 to 12.

  2. CANCELLED - Dreamcatchers, outdoor workshop

    This program has been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause our visitors. Join us on a sacred journey as you weave your very own dreamcatcher using a wide selection of colorful feathers, shells, beads, string, wire, organic and other up-cycled materials in this one-hour workshop. You will also learn the history of dreamcatchers and will be invited to bring meaning, intention and life into your own sacred piece of creative are that you will get to take home with you. We will meet at the information board in the parking lot and take a short walk to our outdoor classroom space.
