You can submit your state park event via email to get it placed on the calendar. The Discover Pass is required for vehicle access to Washington state parks and state-managed recreation lands. Deception Pass State Park

    Park staff present a 30-minute interpretive program about the Deception Pass and Canoe Pass bridges. Beyond a discussion of the bridges’ architecture and history, visitors will discover the cultural significance of these iconic spans and their connection to the park’s natural resources. People of all ages are welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

  2. Guided hikes

    July 20, 2019, 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM @ Deception Pass State Park

    Park staff will lead a family-friendly, hour-long, .9-mile hike along the North Beach Trail, during which hikers will learn about the Deception Pass forests. This one-way hike leaves from the West Beach Amphitheater and ends at the North Beach parking lot. Visitors may leave a car to shuttle or hike round trip. People of all ages are welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

  3. Discovery Center hands-on activities

    The Discovery Center offers hands-on activities. Located in a historic Civilian Conservation Corps bathhouse at Rosario Beach, the center plays host to tidepool specimens, microscopes and more. The Discovery Center is sponsored by the Deception Pass Park Foundation.

    Millersylvania State Park staff invite all park goers to join us in welcoming Heidi Steinbach from Mason County Noxious Weeds. Heidi will be providing an evening walk through the woods and an in-depth discussion on the importance of native plants, how to best control invasive species, and how to remove noxious weeds (as well as explain what all of that means). The walk will start at the amphitheater in the campground and will be done on wide flat trails in which folks of all abilities can join.

    Antoinette Botsford has traveled throughout the world collecting and telling stories. For the last several years her focus has been the true stories of families living on Orcas Island. Her present research focuses on the old homesteads on the land that became Moran State Park as well as an ongoing park 'inhabitant' the 'angel of Mt. Constitution.' For all ages; children under 10 should be accompanied by an adult.

Riverside State Park

  1. Spokenya Run

    July 20, 2019, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM @ Centennial Trail State Park

    Beautiful 7k course begins at Life Center Church, carries runners west and then onto the Centennial Trail along the Spokane River. Course continues along the river before turning onto the Spokane Falls Community College Campus. A “mini-doomsday hill” awaits, with African drummers helping you keep the beat, and a water station at the top. Next the course takes runners through the wooded Mukogawa campus, and back towards Life Center Church. Spokenya lets runners choose to carry water on their heads – Kenyan style. Finish the last 100 meters of the race with a bucket of water on top of your head. This is how women and girls in Kenya must transport all of the family’s water. It’s a challenge for sure.

  2. Spokane Canoe and Kayak Club – Paddle, Splash and Play

    A free event for kids to paddle on Lake Spokane in canoes, kayaks, and stand up paddleboards within the designated, closely monitored area. Each child will have a properly fitted USCG type 3 PFD and whistle. Canoes, kayaks, and stand up paddles board provided for the day. Activities will cease if high winds or lightning is imminent.

    Everyone is invited to a good old-fashioned picnic at Schafer State Park on Saturday, July 20. It will take place in the large picnic shelter from 1-4 p.m. Join us for a day of family fun, free burgers, brats, and beverages. Side dish potluck items are appreciated. Come and hear about the $4 Million renovation plan for Schafer, see the rebuilt historic shelters, listen to some nice music, and enjoy a fine summer afternoon picnic by the Satsop River.
