Centennial Trail State Park

  1. Centennial Trail: Spokane Valley Cycle Celebration 2019

    The annual Spokane Valley Cycle Celebration presented by Valleyfest is set for Sunday, July 28. The bicycle tour of Spokane Valley has been a community fixture since it began in 2013 and is a great way to explore what the area has to offer. Less experienced cyclists can pick the 10-mile route while more experienced riders can choose between 25- and 50-mile rides. All rides begin and end at the North Centennial Trailhead across from Mirabeau Point Park at 13500 E. Mirabeau Parkway. Parking is available immediately west of the park.

Deception Pass State Park

    Park staff will lead a family-friendly, hour-long, .9-mile hike along the North Beach Trail, during which hikers will learn about the Deception Pass forests. This one-way hike leaves from the West Beach Amphitheater and ends at the North Beach parking lot. Visitors may leave a car to shuttle or hike round trip. People of all ages are welcome. While you need not be familiar with all the techniques the class will cover, you should have a basic familiarity with mortise and tenon joinery and be able to cut a tenon by hand using a backsaw.     Beautiful 7k course begins at Life Center Church, carries runners west and then onto the Centennial Trail along the Spokane River. Course continues along the river before turning onto the Spokane Falls Community College Campus. A “mini-doomsday hill” awaits, with African drummers helping you keep the beat, and a water station at the top. Next the course takes runners through the wooded Mukogawa campus, and back towards Life Center Church. Spokenya lets runners choose to carry water on their heads – Kenyan style. Finish the last 100 meters of the race with a bucket of water on top of your head. This is how women and girls in Kenya must transport all of the family’s water. It’s a challenge for sure.
