A Partnership Presentation with Orcas Senior Center
Janet Oakley is an award-winning writer of historical fiction that spans the mid-19th century to WW II with characters who stand up for something in their own time and place. Her writing has been recognized with a 2013 Bellingham Mayor’s Arts Award along with national literary awards. A Washington Humanities Speaker, she traveled the state for two years talking about the Civilian Conservation Corps.
In her talk for the Friends of Moran State Park, she will go into the history and structure of the CCC, their projects, and their impact on saving the environment in Washington State and national parks. She will highlight the work of the 3Cs on Orcas Island.
