Deep Forest Experience interpretive program and guided hikes
Saturday, February 15, 2020
Join one of our winter guided hikes offered Saturdays through February as part of the Deep Forest Experience program. You'll be able to learn about the lichen and moss-covered ancient cedars, firs, hemlocks and maples, along with the history, ecology, and geology of the park. And you'll be able to explore an old-growth forest that provides a glimpse of what the Skagit River Valley looked for thousands of years before European settlers began to reshape it through logging, farming, road building, and other development.
After completing the hike, you are invited into the Discovery Center to warm up with hot beverages, fresh-made popcorn and cookies to enjoy by the wood stove. There are informational videos to watch, arts and crafts projects, and games. It’s a fun and educational winter family activity, rain, snow or shine!
