First Day Hike - Knothead Valley

Wednesday, January 1, 2020

Washington State Parks, REI and the Riverside State Park Foundation are partnering to host this moderate First Day Hike. It is approximately 7 miles round trip with more than 1,000 feet of elevation gain. Participants will hike through the Knothead Valley and enjoy astonishing views from several overlooks. A portion of the hike follows along the Little Spokane River, where participants can enjoy sites of waterfowl and potentially other wildlife such as deer, moose and turkeys. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the park’s history, flora and fauna.

Participants should meet at 9:30 a.m. at the Painted Rocks Trailhead located at 5626 W Rutter Pkwy, Spokane. Enjoy a hot beverage and light snack with REI after the hike. Visitors are not required to display a Discover Pass as it is a State Parks free day.
