Day-use area construction

A construction project is scheduled between June 7, 2021 and August 31, 2021 in the day-use area east of Highway 101. Work is scheduled Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Day use visitors may encounter temporary closures of the parking area near the restrooms, as well as reduced capacity in the day use picnic area while construction is underway. There may be increased construction noise for day users and campers, however, due to the distance from the construction site to the campground, the increased noise is expected to be sporadic and have minimal impact.
The project will restore salmon habitat through the removal old rip-rap and pavement along the river banks, and restoring the channels and meanders of the Dosewallips River from the Hwy 101 river bridge out to the Hood Canal.
