    This initiates a series of ongoing, once a month, full day workshops exploring Alla Prima painting. Commit to your painting. Set aside one day a month and feel good about making it happen. Alla prima is Italian for “at the first” or “at once” and represents the technique of direct painting. Specifically, it has come to mean finishing a painting in one shot. The success or failure of the results rides on the inspiration of the moment and the skill of the artist. It calls for a totality of vision, seeing the “whole picture” in a simplified way. It requires discipline and an economy of technique so as to say more with less. It’s challenging but so satisfying when you pull it off. You will be working from still life materials, learning and practicing all the ways one can achieve a fresh, vibrant painting. Keeping your palette and painting tools clean is of paramount importance in this style of painting. You learn to work fast and cover your painting surface quickly.

Ocean City State Park

  1. Beachcombers Fun Fair

    Have you found treasures on the beach? Are you the type to make wonderful creations out of your finds? Do you have some of the best beach photos ever taken? This is the event for you!

    On Friday, everyone is invited to enter their beachcombed treasures for exhibit. There is no entry fee and ribbons will be awarded. Scientists and knowledgeable speakers will present seminars on a variety of topics Saturday and Sunday. Browsing among the information booths and talking with specialists intrigues others. Vendors sell many interesting beach-related items. Sunday morning you can participate in a guided beach walk or help with a beach clean-up called Dash for Trash. It’s fun and educational!

    Bagley Beaver will be putting in an appearance on Saturday.

Wallace Falls State Park

    A trail running race with three events approximately 31 miles, 22.4 miles and 13.1 miles. This course will follow trails within Wallace Falls State Park and sections of road grade on Department of Natural Resources land.
