You can submit your state park event via email to get it placed on the calendar. The Discover Pass is required for vehicle access to Washington state parks and state-managed recreation lands. Deception Pass State Park

    June 23, 2018, 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM @ Deception Pass State Park

    Join us for a slow-paced, family-friendly, one-hour, 0.9-mile guided hike along the North Beach trail. Beginning at the amphitheater, we will walk through a beautiful old-growth forest and explore local wildlife, plants, geology and history as we make stops along the way.

    This is a one-way hike that ends at the North Beach parking lot. Feel free to join us as we walk back to the amphitheater along the beach, take the same trail back or even explore the bridge. We hope to see you there!

  2. Discovery Center

    Stop by our Discovery Center at Rosario beach anytime from noon to 4 p.m. to check out the displays or talk with our expert volunteers from the Deception Pass Park Foundation. Located in a historic Civilian Conservation Corps bathhouse, the center is jam-packed with animal pelts, microscopes, tide pool critters and a coloring table. A visit here should be on your must-do list while in the park. The Discovery Center is sponsored by the Deception Pass Park Foundation.

    Join us at the amphitheater for our family-friendly Junior Ranger programs. Beginning at 2 p.m., these programs offer kids of all ages a chance to learn about local trees, wildlife, ecosystems and more. Topics vary each week. Each program includes a short lesson, fun activity and a craft project. The best part is everyone walks away with their very own, very official Junior Ranger badge. We hope to see you there!

  4. June lecture series with Dr. Katherine Glew: Mysterious fungi at Deception Pass

    June 23, 2018, 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM @ Deception Pass State Park

    From lichen dyes used in Scottish kilt tartans to indicators of air pollution, come and learn more about this mysterious organism. Join Dr. Glew with an introduction to lichens, including their importance and contributions to ecosystems! Afterwards, there will be an open-ended 1-mile hike up to the summit of Goose Rock to view and identify a variety of lichens.

    This program will be led by Dr. Katherine Glew, associate curator, University of Washington Herbarium, Burke Museum of Natural History.

    June Lecture Series is sponsored by Deception Pass Park Foundation. Participants are encouraged to bring water, a magnifying glass and dress for wet weather with suitable footwear.

    The program will begin at the Park Administration Office, located at 41020 SR 20, Oak Harbor. Parking is limited, so please carpool. Overflow parking can be found at the South bridge parking lot.

  9. June lecture series with Dr. Lisa Wasko DeVetter: Biodegradable plastic mulch

    June 30, 2018, 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM @ Deception Pass State Park

    Plastics. Does the topic have you feeling overwhelmed, unsure of its future impacts or unaware of the present predicaments? Join Dr. Lisa Wasko DeVetter at the amphitheater as she presents on plastic waste in our environment with an emphasis on plastic use in agricultural systems. She'll also discuss the research her team is doing on red raspberry production with the Small Fruit Horticulture program with WSU.

    Bench seating is available, but feel free to bring your own foldable chair. Blankets and bug spray are highly recommended.
