Interactive geology lesson: Why are the mountains so high?

Saturday, March 30, 2019

Join Gina Roberti from the North Cascades Institute for a presentation about the geologic history of the North Cascades on the topic of “What makes the mountains of the North Cascades so tall?”

Participants will work in teams to investigate the stories behind real rock samples collected from around the North Cascades and learn about the geologic processes that form such “gneiss” rocks. This event is appropriate for all ages and all levels of curiosity related to geology, volcanoes and metamorphism in the North Cascades.
