Technical climbing closed with some exceptions
Effective Feb. 1, Beacon Rock is closed to technical rock climbing. The south, southeast and southwest faces are closed for the season. The closure is to protect Peregrine Falcon nesting habitat and climbing is expected to reopen in mid-July.
The east face is permanently closed to protect rare species and historic resources.
Exceptions to the closure include the west face which is open. This comprises routes beginning near "Sunset Strip" and ending near "Lay Lady Lay." Only "Stone Soup" is open on the northwest face, otherwise the northwest face is closed.
Please contact the park at (509) 427-8265 with questions or concerns.
