Washington state law prohibits transport of any aquatic nuisance species (non-native plants and creatures) on any boat, trailer, fishing gear, or bait well. If found, law enforcement may stop you and require you to clean your vessel or gear. Learn more about aquatic invasive species by visiting the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife.
What You Can Do
To prevent the increasing threat of invasive species, such as Milfoil, zebra mussels, and others:
Always drain live wells and transom wells before leaving the water
Remove all visible aquatic plants and animals from your boat, motor, trailer, and other equipment before leaving the access area
Report Sightings If you see an invasive species, you can report it online or call the reporting hotline at 877-9-INFEST. Learn More Learn more about invasive species at the Washington Invasive Species Council.
